During 2022, Maine Vets for Afghans was constantly engaged in
advocacy efforts in advancing the Afghan Adjustment Act (AAA)
through Congress. Members of MVFA worked extremely hard on this issue
both as a group and as individuals. The award was presented on May 2,
2023 during the ILAP Maine annual meeting.
Members
of MVFA took part in rallies in front of the Capital building in
Washington, D.C., wrote editorials to several of Maine's leading
newspapers, conducted radio and TV interviews, and more. The MVFA
advocacy team held several online meetings with Maine's Congressional
staff about the need and importance for passage of the
Afghan Adjustment Act (AAA). In addition, the advocacy team met
online with both Senator King (I-ME) and Senator Collins (R-ME) asking
for their support in Congress.
